Program

The course ‚Basics in Programming for MMT‘ provides participants with a foundation in object oriented programming in preparation of an application to the M.Sc. in Media, Management and Digital Technologies (MMT) at LMU Munich. Over the course of five teaching days, students will be introduced to the basics in object-oriented programming using Processing, a programming language based on Java, applied specifically to teach programming principles within the context of visual media.

The course curriculum will consist of four types of teaching.

  1. Two lectures on each day introduce the basic concepts of programming.
  2. Supervised exercises build on these concepts and give participants the opportunity for the practical application of each topic covered in the course.
  3. In a second round of daily supervised exercises participants use their newly acquired knowledge to work on their own project, which progresses throughout the course and is enriched by the knowledge from lectures and previous exercises.
  4. To ensure a sound understanding of all concepts, recap sessions will be held after each new topic.
